In an interview, Michi Beck reveals what he thinks of his colleagues and "The Voice" newcomers Wincent Weiss and Alvaro Soler.

Michi Beck (53) and Smudo (53) from the Fantastischen Vier ("Irgendwann") celebrated a comeback this year in the "The Voice" universe. After five seasons of "TVOG" they took their seats in the double chair of the kids version. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, Michi Beck reveals what is special about being a coach at "The Voice Kids" (every Saturday, 8:15 pm on Sat.1 and on Joyn), whether he would have participated as a child and what an impression he has so far of his colleagues Wincent Weiss (28) and Alvaro Soler (30), who are sitting on the red chair for the music show for the first time.

Why did you want to be part of the kids version after five seasons of "The Voice"?

Michi Beck: After two years of breathing deeply, we just felt like going back to the show, and the offer for "Voice Kids" appealed to us in particular, because of course it's already a different vibe than with the adults and you don't automatically start with the talents to compare previous seasons.

Is the jury job now different from "The Voice"?

Beck: Dealing with the young talents is of course more cautious and playful. Still, it's amazing how ambitious the kids are. The learning curve is also steeper than that of adults in many cases. At the blind auditions it was often even more difficult to distinguish whether a boy or a girl was singing, which sometimes made it even more exciting.

What does a perfect "The Voice Kids" talent need for you?

Beck: Enjoy the show, enjoy making music, thirst for knowledge and of course a special voice.

Do you always agree with Smudo when choosing?

Beck: In most cases we agree, but sometimes we don't – then there is less of a buzz. Everyone also has their own personal free shot (laughs).

As a child, would you have dared to take part in the show?

Beck: Probably not. That's why we took part in one or two strange talent contests in the early days of Fanta 4. In some suburban discos with a drink voucher as the main prize. So we wanted to show what we can do very early on.

What do you think of the newcomers Wincent Weiss and Alvaro Soler?

Beck: Wincent, who is still growing himself, is a pretty quick-witted play partner and certainly a good playmate for the kids on his team (laughs). Alvaro, our humble international superstar next door, is a super nice guy and a super talented musician. Both are by no means to be underestimated.

Who will be the toughest jury competition for you on your way to victory?

Beck: As so often before: Trainer Stefanie Kloß. The woman is simply a secret weapon!
