Micro living – what does that actually mean? Micro living refers to small apartments that are on average 20 to 35 square meters in size. Various living areas are housed in this area:

  • Sleeping place
  • Sitting area
  • kitchen
  • Workplace
  • bathroom

Such a small living space can often be rented already furnished, so the new resident can move in with his seven things. Come on the small space multifunctional furniturefor example, the sink disappears under the worktop, and only the most necessary equipment moves into the micro-apartment – then it's a small kitchenette instead of a spacious designer kitchen.

In some such apartment houses there are shared spaces for everyone, such as event kitchen, fitness studio or lounge corners. Depending on the price segment, some providers also offer apartments Smart home solutions or, in so-called Serviced Apartments, additional service such as laundry service or breakfast.

The living concept is particularly popular in big cities, and the hotel industry has already taken up this concept with its chic micro-hotels, which saves money in expensive metropolises. Those who live in a micro-apartment may like to forego space, but still want a certain level of comfort, a central location, short distances and an optimal infrastructure.

What is really important, which items do I really need and does it have to be the 120 square meter apartment with roof terrace – or is 35 square meters enough …? Needs are questioned Conscious and sustainable consumption is becoming more important and the share economy – i.e. sharing instead of owning – is becoming more important.
