After the phenomenon “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”, what are the first information on season 2 of the Ryan Murphy series?
WHAT IS IT ABOUT ?
The Monster anthology series, produced by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, traces the journey and misdeeds of criminals who have marked the history of the United States.
If the first season was interested in the fate of Jeffrey Dahmer, nicknamed the “cannibal of Milwaukee”, season 2 will explore the complex relationship of the brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, responsible for the murder of their parents in 1989.
WHO WILL PLAY IN SEASON 2?
Who says new season says new cast. In fact, Evan Peters – who does not want to embody dark characters for a while – will not be back, like the other members of the cast.
To embody the two Menendez brothers, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brenan have set their sights on young actors Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. The former has already starred in two notable horror films, They/Them and Swallowed. The second has a recurring role in the American daily series Central Hospital.
WHAT TO EXPECT ?
On the evening of August 20, 1989, two brothers from a wealthy family, Lyle and Erik Menéndez, killed their parents in cold blood with a gun. They decide to leave the house, throw the gun away and go to the cinema. Shortly before midnight, back home, they call the police, pretending to be the victims of a terrible crime.
The Menendez family fortune – $14 million – is theirs, and the brothers spend the money in just a few months. Their behavior arouses the suspicions of the authorities. After confessions made to a psychologist, Lyle Menendez was arrested on March 8, 1990. His brother surrendered three days later.
The Menendez affair becomes a national saga that spans several years. The culprits, who claim that their act is a response to the sexual and psychological abuse committed by their father, were sentenced in 1996 to life in prison, without the possibility of parole.
The story does not end there. In April 2023, a 51-year-old man named Roy Rosselló claims to have been drugged and raped at the age of 14 by José Menendez, the father of the two brothers, thus confirming their version.
To announce this new season, the Netflix platform has already posted a teaser which contains the recording of the Menendez brothers’ call to the police on the evening of August 20, 1989. Terrifying.
RELEASE DATE: WHEN IS MONSTER SEASON 2 COMING?
Initially, season 2 was announced for 2024, most certainly in the fall, like season 1. However, the writers’ and actors’ strike should delay filming, scheduled for September. The release date is still uncertain.
