The television presenter has been committed to the common good for years.

“The personalities we are awarding the State Order of Merit today stand for outstanding commitment to our society and to our country,” explains Laschet in a press release. The recipients of the order deserve “Thanks for the passionate commitment and the time spent for the well-being of their fellow men”.

Long-term use

In the past, Eckes has been involved in a wide variety of projects, including cancer prevention and helping children and adolescents as well as refugee families. In 2017 she received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany from former Federal President Joachim Gauck (81).

At the beginning of the year she took a break to look after her father. “Unfortunately, my father’s Alzheimer’s disease has worsened dramatically in recent months, so that I and my siblings have to take care of our parents intensively and now as a family have to be there especially for each other,” she said in a January message from RTL . She returned to television in April.
