Netflix: not all programs will be available in the offer with advertising

netflix gave some details on its next offer with advertising, now scheduled for the beginning of 2023.

It’s time for accounts for Netflix, which has just presented its financial results for the second quarter of 2022.

The news is pretty good for the streaming service, which has only lost one million subscribers against the expected two million, and continues to be profitable with a net income of $1.44 billion over the three last months.

However, Netflix intends to continue its transformation, and this will notably involve the arrival of a new offer including advertising, a revolution for the platform which had fiercely fought this model since its launch.

During the conference call that followed the presentation of its results, Ted Sarandos, the general manager of Netflix, gave some details on this formula, starting with the number of programs available.

While one would have thought that the entire Netflix catalog would be accessible to customers accepting the display of ads, the manager specified that ” the large majority of Netflix productions would be included in this offer.

In particular, Netflix will have to complete the agreements it has made with Hollywood and foreign studios on a case-by-case basis before adding their titles to this formula with advertising.

Ted Sarandos specifies however that the absence of certain titles is not ” a major obstacle for the company “. It’s a safe bet that the Netflix Originals will be present from day one and it is now these exclusives that trigger the subscription and not the presence or absence of a back catalog filled with older films.
