Warner Bros. Discovery has announced the new streaming service Max for the USA and is already boasting a very special prestige project – a “Harry Potter” series. Also a first teaser trailerwhich does not offer much insight, has been published.
Ten more years with “Harry Potter”
In a press release, Warner Bros. Discovery promises a “faithful adaptation of the beloved ‘Harry Potter’ book series” and also revealed that author JK Rowling (57) will be on board as executive producer on the project. Although there are few details so far, it is clear that the series is already designed for ten years and several seasons. Apparently one season per book is planned.
In addition, there should also be a reunion with popular characters such as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Daniel Radcliffe (33), Emma Watson (32) and Rupert Grint (34) will not slip into their famous roles because a new cast is to take over. There are no details about the fresh cast or a possible release date yet.
“Max’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of my books is important to me,” Rowling said in the statement. The author is excited to be a part of this new adaptation, which she says allows for a level of depth and detail that only a longer-running series can.
New streaming service Max
There was news about the series project at the beginning of April, but Warner Bros. Discovery has now officially confirmed for the first time that the series has been ordered for the new streaming service Max, which will be launched in the USA on May 23rd. From the end of next month, in addition to content from HBO Max, this will also offer Discovery+, which will continue to exist on its own.
