She is the Swiss princess! In a fairytale wedding, Nina Flohr (34) gave the Greek king’s son Prince Philippos (35) the ecclesiastical marriage. Around a year after the civil wedding, the two swore eternal love in the Cathedral of Mary in Athens. The place has a special meaning for Philip: 57 years ago his parents, King Constantine II (81) and Queen Anne-Marie (75), got married there.
The daughter of a billionaire from Zug wore a dress from the luxury brand Chanel with a meter-long train that gave her problems as soon as she got out of the limousine. The guest list also caused discussions: Due to the corona pandemic, the bridal couple limited themselves to a short guest list of around 100 people – by royal standards. Among other things, the British princesses Beatrice (33) and Eugenie (31) were there.
No more real royal
Prince Philip is the youngest member of the former royal family of Greece. His father Constantine II was deposed in 1974 after a referendum and the monarchy in Greece was abolished. The former royal family of Greece lives in a villa on the Peloponnese peninsula during the summer months, otherwise mainly abroad.
The relationship between the Greeks and their former royals was disturbed for a long time. The reason for this was King Constantine’s controversial role during the Greek military dictatorship in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, however, he is seen as a historical figure. The family continues to use their title of nobility – even if they no longer rule an empire.
Prince Philiippos also has well-known godparents: Former King Juan Carlos of Spain (83), Princess Diana (1961–1997), Prince Philip (1921–2021).
Married in Switzerland
In civilian style, the two tied the knot on December 12, 2020 in St. Moritz. At that time, the daughter of entrepreneur Thomas Flohr (61) was still waiting for the church wedding – probably in the hope that the corona situation will improve. (bnr / SDA)
