Nordahl Lelandais: “being his mother is an immeasurable difficulty”, heavy testimony at trial

While the trial of Nordahl Lelandais opened this Monday, January 31 in Grenoble, the mother of the killer of little Maëlys gave a poignant testimony on the difficulty of her daily life.

We can not doubt it: to be the one who gave birth to a killer as publicized as Nordahl Lelandais must be very difficult to live with. At the time of the first day of the trial of the one who took the life of little Maëlys, this Monday, January 31, in Grenoble, Christiane Lelandais gave a testimony that could not be more poignant before the Assize Court : “Being the mother of Nordahl Lelandais is an immeasurable difficulty, we are rejected from everywhere, we are insulted from everywhere, I do not have the right to live”.

The 73-year-old retiree had to answer many questions for more than an hour. “If I’m still standing, it’s because I have my children and a grandson, but I don’t have the right to live, I don’t have the right to smile, I don’t have the right to do nothing”, continued Christine Lelandais, completely devastated by this terrible situation.

A life sentence for Nordahl Lelandais?

Logically invited to react to the statements of his mother, Nordahl Lelandais came to his defense. The latter, who confessed to the murder of little Maëlys, felt that the questions asked of his mother were “very hard”. “Sometimes it feels like my mother and my stepsister are being judged. Why do you love your son? It’s a tough question”, he lamented. His half-sister, questioned shortly before about what she would like to say to the accused, replied: “I’m here”.

Already sentenced to 20 years of criminal imprisonment in Chambéry during the month of May 2021 for the murder of the young soldier Arthur Noyer, Nordahl Lelandais faces a life sentence at the end of this trial following the death of little Maëlys De Araujo, who disappeared during a wedding party in August 2017.
