Today she is a successful manager, book author and is often referred to in the media as a “robot whisperer”. An expert who is quite critical of the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI): “The problem is, it has not been understood until now that the technology that the tech companies build can discriminate just as much as people,” she explains .

After all: the EU now wants to regulate artificial intelligence. It is planned, for example, that an application process based on algorithms may not exclude certain people. These regulations now need to be brought into line with existing laws.

“Nothing is to be feared, only to be understood”

With her book “Don’t panic – it’s just technology”, Ait Si Abbou wants to break down technology fears and promote openness among the population. But it’s not always that easy, she says. Her favorite quote in this context comes from the physicist Marie Curie: “Nothing in life is to be feared, only to be understood.”

Ait Si Abbou is convinced that we can reduce fears if we understand relationships, especially when it comes to new technologies.

The career of today’s AI manager may look exemplary. However, the road was rocky. As a foreigner with the “wrong” surname, it is still difficult in Germany despite the lack of skilled workers, says the native Moroccan. In the new episode of “So techt Germany”, Ait Si Abbou tells how she experiences this and why she is so passionate about technology. One can be curious about the question she would like to ask a possible super-intelligence one day.
