At CES 2022, NVIDIA announced two new graphics cards
desktop: the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and GeForce RTX 3050.

These two references extend the RTX 3000 range at each end, until now limited by the GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3060.

8 GB of GDDR6 for the GeForce RTX 3050

Let’s start with the more modest of the two, the GeForce RTX 3050. Already present in the mobile segment, it finally lands on the desktop segment. Rumors were about 4 or 8 GB of GDDR6; NVIDIA decided on the second option.

This GeForce RTX 3050 provides 18 RT cores and 73 Tensor cores, according to the presentation slide. In principle, from these values, the number of CUDA cores should be 2,304. However, NVIDIA refers instead to 2,560 in its press release. If so, the number of Tensor and RT cores are 80 and 20 respectively. For comparison, the GeForce RTX 3060 has 3,584 CUDA cores, 112 Tensor cores, and 28 RT cores. The latter is also better endowed in terms of VRAM, with 12 GB of GDDR6.

On the performance side, NVIDIA announces around 9 TFLOPS FP32s. The GeForce RTX 3060 offers 12.74.

The GeForce RTX 3050 will be available on January 27 starting at $ 249.

GeForce RTX 3090 Ti: the monster comes out of its lair

You were expecting it, here it is: the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. There, there are no surprises as to the specs, which have been the subject of numerous leaks over the past few days.

As expected, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti therefore embeds 10,752 CUDA cores, 336 Tensor cores and 84 RT cores. This is a bit more than the GeForce RTX 3090, which in turn is “limited” to 10,496 CUDA cores, 328 Tensor cores and 82 RT cores.

The Ti version also stands out for its VRAM. It still inherits 24 GB from GDDR6X, but at 21 Gbps instead of 19. As a result, memory bandwidth jumps to 1,008 Gbps. NVIDIA mentions an FP32 power of around 40 TFLOPS, while the GeForce RTX 3090 delivers 35.58.

No release date or pricing has been announced, but NVIDIA promises more information in the coming days.
