Nvidia raises the price of the GeForce RTX 30 Founders Edition

Faced with rising component prices and the weak euro against the dollar, Nvidia is increasing the price of its GeForce RTX 30 Founders Edition. Sold at rock bottom prices but hard to find, these cards are the best value for money at the moment.

With the euro weakening against the dollar for a few months and an increase in the cost of components, Nvidia would have had no choice but to revise the price of its GeForce RTX 30 Founders Edition upwards. This is at least the justification provided to us by the manufacturer, during an exchange on this subject.

The GeForce RTX 30s hit the market amid a shortage of graphics cards. While demand is strong, not only from players, but also and above all from miners who monopolize the overwhelming majority of the available stock. The lack of components that has lasted for two years is not helping matters, we are now in a situation where the rare stocks of graphics cards are sold at exorbitant prices, sometimes two to three times their normal price. This also applies to the Radeon RX 6000s, marketed shortly after the GeForces.

To afford a GeForce RTX 30 at the right price, the best plan is to manage to get your hands on a Founders Edition version – we speak of “drop”, that is to say the arrival of available stocks, usually a few minutes at most. These cards are entirely designed by Nvidia and sold at their reference price on the manufacturer’s site – which, in France, then refers to LDLC for payment and shipping terms.

Bad luck, Nvidia has therefore decided to increase the price of these models. This increase is between 20 and 100 € depending on the references which, in the current situation, is qualified as moderate. These prices are indeed much lower than those charged by the brand’s partners.
