Officials came to help – deer found injured: bitten by a dog

Bambi was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time: A deer was walking on Sieveringer Strasse in Vienna-Döblin at 3 p.m. last Wednesday when it was suddenly attacked by a dog running free. The animal suffered bite wounds, luckily officials came to help.

It was last Wednesday when police officers were directed to the scene of the accident in the Sieveringer Strasse area. Once there, the officers were able to find an exhausted and injured fawn next to a stream. It was bitten by a dog running free. The responsible forester and the wildlife rescue service were contacted immediately, the injured deer was placed in a transport box with the help of a blanket and then taken care of by a veterinarian. The owner of the dog was still there and was reported because of the violations of the Vienna Animal Husbandry Act. We wish the deer a speedy recovery! The police would like to remind you that according to the Animal Welfare Act, a leash or muzzle is mandatory in public places. This also includes areas used for agriculture and forestry.
