OnePlus has unveiled its OnePlus Nord 3. Usually, smartphones in this range are announced with great fanfare. Here we had no connection with the brand. The phone seems to be orderable in France.
Update at 2:35 p.m.: we asked OnePlus directly about the launch of this smartphone in France. Despite the pre-order page, the brand tells us that the launch of the OnePlus Nord 3 is not planned in France at this stage. However, the brand is not closing the door to a future launch. It remains to be seen whether the pre-orders open in France will lead to deliveries.
OnePlus or OneLess? This is a bit of the question that has been bothering us for several months, as Oppo’s withdrawal from the French market progresses (remember that OnePlus is a sub-brand of Oppo). The OnePlus Nord 3, which has just been announced, brings a little more water to our mill, but it also complicates the perception that one might have. Explanations.
An exit in complete silence
When the first OnePlus Nord of the name was released, it was a brand new range launched with great fanfare by OnePlus. Its goal was to reconnect with the basic identity of the brand, the famous flagship killer, an accessible smartphone, but which offered a level of quality equivalent to premium. The OnePlus Nord 2 was announced in 2021 with the same enthusiasm and OnePlus even spoke to us of a “midship killer”, in the form of a wink.
For this OnePlus Nord 3, it’s complete silence. It must be said that the people who took care of the brand in France and with whom we used to exchange no longer work for OnePlus and that our only contacts are no longer based in France. So we learned about the release of this phone via its official page, quite simply.
Too bad, because the smartphone promises
This is a shame, because this OnePlus Nord 3 does not lack arguments. It seems to pack everything you’d expect from a mid-range smartphone with OnePlus’ identity on top of that.
We find, for example, thealert slider, 80W fast charging, a 6.74-inch Oled screen in 40-120 Hz please, or even a 50 Mpx IMX 890 main sensor with OIS. This seems very fair on paper for a product that sold for 500 euros when it was launched (it will go up to 550 euros later).
Delivered under Android 13, it incorporates a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip, a high-end smartphone chip from 2021. It is aided by 8 to 16 GB of LPDRR5X RAM and 128 to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Let’s add a large 5000 mAh battery to complete a very nice technical sheet.
You can still order it
According to the OnePlus site, it is possible to pre-order the OnePlus Nord 3 in France. This is already a little news in itself. Even if the brand confirmed its desire to continue to engage in France, the disengagement of Oppo and the disappearance of Artech, the company which managed OnePlus in France, did not necessarily presage a grandiose future.
To acquire it in pre-order, it will cost you 450 euros for its 8 GB + 128 GB version and 500 euros for its 16 + 256 GB version, knowing that the price of the latter should rise to 550 euros afterwards. Delivery is promised from July 19.
