This time Bandai Namco has thought big for its quarter-century episode: a more serious tone, new graphic and artistic ambitions, a combat system as refined as possible … The guy has great arguments to make and these qualities have hit the mark with many players. Shin Megami Tensei V: The Devil in the Body
You may have already seen it in our pick of the most hardcore games of the year and that is precisely why it is among the best role-playing games of the year. Its uncompromising bias, which doesn’t take the player for a sham, should do you good if you’ve been through the jap RPGs of the past few years.. With its daring exploration and tuned gameplay, if you love the interlocking layers of systems in games, SMT5 is for you.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Monsters University
As surprising as it may seem, the JRPG addiction of the Monster Hunter saga managed to surprise early in the summer. His turn-based brawls, not so simple, ensure the show with combined rider / monster attacks superbly staged and which give a dynamic rhythm to the clashes. Nier Replicant: A Remake To Live Up To
Remake of the game that allowed Yoko Taro to emerge from the shadow of Drakengard, Nier Replicant is a good A-RPG, even if it will have to deal with an old gameplay, despite the updates made on this side. All the same, if you missed it at the time, this is a great way to get on the page: the OST is in the pantheon, the narration will not hesitate to surprise you, and this system of runs multiple to unlock all endings holds some surprises even for those who played it on Xbox 360 or PS3 a few years ago
Mass Effect Legendary Edition: Shepard Returns
It was not really jostled this year on the big Western RPG side. The only truly striking publication in AAA, Mass Effect Legendary Edition contains the Shepard trilogy plus all the expansions that accompany it. No rush on the gameplay side, but the assurance of discovering the Bioware space opera of the great era in the best possible conditions and that’s already not bad.
