Our ski day in Kitz – “Krone” readers experienced Streif with champion Fritz

In the start house on the Hahnenkamm, even Fritz Strobl used to run out of shame, but at the ski day of “Krone” and KitzSki he inspired with anecdotes from the past. 600 ski fans enjoyed the half-price day on Kitzbühel’s slopes.

His course record of 1:51.58 minutes has been 26 years old – but the charisma of the double Kitz winner and Olympic champion Fritz Strobl is unbroken. And so the “Krone” readers hung expectantly on the Carinthian’s every word when he said in the Streif-Starthaus: “Suddenly, in this room, there was no more humour, here it was dead quiet.” The enthusiasm from the previous year was contagious colorful crowd to the mousetrap, where the yawning abyss makes your knees weak. For example, with Isabella Schett from Bad Häring, who had hardly been on skis for ten years, but said: “My dad was so enthusiastic about last year’s Streif descent that I came with him this time.” The family is extensive with Toni Sailer related. Did that help – in addition to the rather grippy slope conditions? Simon and Martina came from the Zillertal and after last year’s experience they also took Lara and Mama Gabi in tow. Grandpa Hermann completed the group of ski enthusiasts and everyone agreed: “Once you stand here yourself, you look at the pictures on TV in a completely different way.” once fell apart and where races were lost or won. He himself confessed in between: “Since I no longer have to go down here with 2.20 meter slats, I prefer the Streif even more.” After 3300 meters, the Streif adventure was over and the refreshment in the Pengelstein restaurant was well deserved. Thanks to special prices (e.g. schnitzel with a drink for 13 euros) it tasted even better and the duo “Abundzu” provided the appropriate musical accompaniment. Conclusion: An eventful day of skiing is also possible without a sparkling blue sky.
