“Peek performance”: What could Apple show on March 8?

On March 8th, Apple will introduce new products via a live stream! From the name of the event and the rumors in advance, it’s pretty easy to estimate what we’ll see at the event. In a little foresight, let’s speculate together what might be behind the title “Peek Performance”.

  • Apple launches a live stream called “Peek Performance” on March 8
  • In the run-up there were already rumors about new iPads, the new MacBook Air and the iPhone SE 2022
  • Event title could also be a reference to Apple Glass / Apple View

With the announcement of the spring keynote, Apple probably crashed the MWC 2022 quite intentionally! On March 8th—morning if you’re reading this article on publication day—Apple will be unveiling new products. As always, Apple is silent in the run-up to the media itself and is again relying on quite cryptic messages at the event.

The live stream. which will start tomorrow at 7 p.m. is called “Peek Performance”. This is by no means a typo on my part, Apple plays with the words “Peek” and “Peak” in the title. In English, “to peek” means something like “spying” or “looking” – the expression “peak performance” is usually translated in German with the Anglicism “top performance”. Is there a hint here?

Peek Performance – Apple could introduce these devices

New MacBook Air or Smart Glasses?

Apple’s nod is particularly ambiguous this spring. On the one hand, the description “peak performance” would fit very well to the previously speculated MacBook Air models with the more powerful M1 Max and M1 Pro chips. At the same time, Apple could equip the cheaper notebooks with mini-LED display technology and that would give us something to “spy” at the presentation.

“Peek Performance” could finally be the last official reference to Apple’s AR / VR glasses. As we are currently aware, more and more companies are working on smart glasses that can display information directly in your field of vision. Apple’s version is still traded online as “Apple Glass”, but the title “Apple View” has become more likely.

iPhone SE 2022

The safe bets of the next Apple event include the new iPhone SE 2022, which is quite likely to come. As you can read on our iPhone SE 2022 rumor overview page, there have been a number of leaks and analyzes of the cheap iPhone in recent weeks and months. So we can expect a new SE model with the familiar look.

New iPad models

In addition, we may also see new iPads, even if the launch of the iPad mini 2021 was not that long ago. It is possible that Apple will finally adapt the entry-level iPad to the design of the newer models. Because the 9th generation still came onto the market with some legacy issues, which I was able to forgive Apple for the last time in my review of the iPad 2021. However, a new model is more due for the iPad Air, which was last updated in 2022 according to our iPad overview page.

Relief for mask wearers

For all iPhone users without an Apple Watch, there could be another exciting announcement on March 8th: If Apple launches the update to iOS 15.2, we could finally unlock the iPhone again using Face ID while wearing a mask. Perhaps the biggest innovation of the event?

What do you all mean? What will Apple announce on March 8th at 7pm? Of course we accompany the event for you and summarize all the details during the event!
