The Pixel 7 has been talked about for several months now, but we now know everything about it, just a few days before the official presentation. Its data sheet has delivered some interesting new details.
On the Telegram Google News page, some users have shared the official spec sheet of the upcoming Pixel 7 and 7 Pro smartphones. We already knew most of the technical characteristics for several weeks now, but some details were missing.
Now we know that the next Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will finally be compatible with facial recognition. Google had decided not to opt for this feature on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, because the Pixel 6 used a less capable front camera. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are equipped with a new Samsung 3J1 10.8 MP selfie camera sensor, so they can finally support face recognition.
Google improves the optical zoom of the Pixel 7 Pro
In addition to facial recognition, the official data sheet tells us that the 48 MP sensor of the Pixel 7 Pro now allows 5X optical zoom, compared to only 4X on the previous generation. Other camera specifications shown also include several different photo modes, such as thee “Movie Motion Blur” and “Macro Focus”, the latter being exclusive to the Pixel 7 Pro. Like its competitors, we imagine that Google will use the ultra-wide-angle camera for its macro mode.
The data sheet also confirms the presence of the IP68 certification for water resistance to dust, which will please some people. Both devices are powered by the new Google Tensor G2 chip, which is far from revolutionary, and will be able to count up to 256 GB of storage, a first on Google smartphones. The rest of the technical characteristics are similar to the previous models.
As a reminder, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be officially presented by Google on October 6th. Both devices will be available for pre-order immediately, before arriving in stores for all on October 18, 2022. The prices will be identical to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. It will be necessary to count 649 euros for the Pixel 7, and 899 euros for the Pixel 7 Pro.
