Plus 3.8 percent – In the corona year 2020, more money ended up in the funding pot


From A for general education to Z for interest subsidies. In 2020, too, the country paid out substantial subsidies. Strictly speaking, it was 1.82 billion euros, 3.8 percent more than the year before. The number of funding recipients has also risen from 8,441 to 9,680.

Last year, the country paid out 71 million euros more than in 2019 in subsidies. A total of 1.82 billion euros flowed – divided among 9,680 recipients. One of them was the religious order hospitals, which received 57 million euros in cover for company departures. However, this amount applies to the years 2018 and 2019. In future, on the recommendation of the Court of Auditors, the minus will be settled individually every year. The corona-related waiver of tourism contributions for businesses cost the country ten million euros.

Parties nibbled along
According to the funding report that went online recently, the four state parliament parties and their organizations also nibbled on the funding cake with around 24.5 million euros, depending on the distribution of mandates. For the ÖVP state party leadership there was 8.78 million euros, for the state parliament club another 471,000 euros went to the account of the blacks. The FPÖ is in second place with 7.3 million euros. The liberal club is funded with 404,000 euros. For the SPÖ there were 4.7 million euros and for the Greens another 2.3 million euros.
