Just over 25 years after the start of the license, in 1996, the Pokémon franchise has grown to become one of the world’s best-known brands, entering popular culture all over the planet. Over the years, many creatures have been added, especially through games exclusive to Nintendo consoles.
At the start of 2023, the 1000 Pokémon mark has been crossedand The Pokémon Company tells us that it is Gromago who is the lucky winner and will wear the famous #1000 in the Pokédex. It is an evolution of Mordudor’s Chest Form or March Form, and has the Steel/Ghost type. It’s not the only Pokémon added though, as six more are coming with Roar-Moon, Scream-Tail, Ironguard, Ironhood, Ivory Hold, and Ironwheel.
To mark the occasion, a video has been released which captures all the important moments from the video games, from the first, Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Green Version, released in 1996, to the latest, Pokémon Scarlet and Purple, in 2022.
This number will undoubtedly be beaten very quickly, but we will have to wait many more years (but maybe not 26 years) to see the 2000 Pokémon mark crossed.
