“Politicians are actors”: Isabelle Huppert and Reda Kateb present the film Les Promesses

Starring in the film Les Promesses, Isabelle Huppert and Reda Kateb explain to us how this new feature film by Thomas Kruithof deals behind the scenes of a local policy that makes sense.

After The Mechanics of the Shadow, the director Thomas Kruithof is interested in other workings of the political world with his new feature film entitled The Promises. Isabelle Huppert plays Clémence, a mayor of a city of Saine-Saint-Denis, who fights a last fierce battle to save a city undermined by insalubrity and “sleep merchants”, with the help of her chief of staff Yazid (Reda Kateb), before handing over to the next election. But when Clémence is approached to become a minister, her ambition calls into question all her plans…

Are politicians actors? How does one slip into the skin of a political figure? Why is local politics a major issue a few months before the presidential elections? Isabelle Huppert Reda Kateb answered AlloCiné’s questions about the film Les Promesses.
