Presidential 2022: Jean-Luc Mélenchon continues his campaign with an “immersive” meeting on January 16

INNOVATION – A hundred days before the first round, France Insoumise has announced a meeting on January 16 which aims to be “immersive”. On the program: giant screens, diffusion of images, but also of smells.

It is a very special meeting which should be held on January 16 in Nantes. Far from being satisfied with a classic gathering, as it could have been the case on December 5, the presidential candidate, Jean-Luc Mélenchon should give a speech on his vision of the future in a universe “immersive”.

3000 people will thus find themselves in “a kind of cube” 6 meters high by 50 meters wide, including all the walls, including the ceiling, will be screens. Images, sound, and even smells will accompany the various speakers during this meeting in order to “to project our vision of the future, progressive, peaceful”, praised the LFI deputy Bastien Lachaud, contacted by LCI.

Images, sounds and smells for an “immersive” political rally

“The idea is to use technologies from the world of art and culture and to transcribe them into the political world”, he assured. In a press release on the event, the use of the scent is thus justified because “one cannot think of immersion without olfactory conditions”. In addition to the videos shown, two perfumes will therefore be broadcast during this event.

The spectators will thus be immersed in different “universes linked to the speech of Jean-Luc Mélenchon”. Before this, fragments of philosophical, political, literary texts and poems will also be read by members of Parliament and the People’s Union and similarly accompanied by this technology.

Rejecting the fact that this deployed technology was a means of relaunching the campaign of the leader Insoumis, Bastien Lachaud affirmed that this was above all a way of giving concrete realization to the program of the LFI candidate. “It will be the opportunity for Jean-Luc Mélenchon to give a great speech on the horizon that he proposes”, did he declare.

Faced with the health context, FFP2 masks will be distributed to participants. However, as France Insoumise had already declared previously, and as it is allowed, the gauge of 2000 people will not be respected and the health pass will not be requested at the entrance either.

This is not the first time that Jean-Luc Mélenchon has called on technological innovation in his political rallies. Present on YouTube whose channel has 626,000 subscribers, he also marked the presidential campaign of 2017 by making a meeting in holograms. This technology will also be used again on April 5, during which the candidate is expected to hold a rally in seven regions simultaneously.
