Preview: Season two of "Das Boot" will be on free TV in December

Series final spurt in 2020: The free TV premiere of the second season of "Das Boot" is not the only highlight in December.

The corona pandemic continues to have a firm grip on Germany. But serial junkies can't complain about a lack of supplies. December also has some highlights in store again.

The US series "Grand Hotel" will celebrate its German free TV premiere on Sixx from December 1, 2020 at 8:15 pm with three episodes in a row. Eva Longoria (45), known from "Desperate Housewives", not only plays a guest role, she is also active as a producer. Everything revolves around sun, beach, sea, love, lust and intrigue in Miami, more precisely in the luxury hotel "Riviera Grand" of the Mendoza family. Because there are loads of dark secrets and amorous entanglements.

After the Sky premiere in spring, the second season of the event series "Das Boot" will be on German free TV for the first time at the end of the year. Fans can find out, among other things, how things are with U-boat commander Johannes von Reinhartz (Clemens Schick), corvette captain Ulrich Wrangel (Stefan Konarske), Simone (Vicky Krieps), Gestapo chief Hagen Forster (Tom Wlaschiha) and Kaleun Klaus Hoffmann (Rick Okon) continues. The episodes will be broadcast on ZDF on three consecutive evenings: Sunday, December 27th from 8:15 pm; Monday, December 28th, from 8.15pm and Tuesday, December 29th, from 10.15pm.

In the parody and comedy show "Binge Reloaded", the protagonists slip into the roles of various personalities in real-time media. In short, sketch-like clips, a cross-section of a "fictional" TV evening is made with recourse to elements of well-known streaming or TV moments and characters. The new series "The Wilds" is about a group of young teenage women from different backgrounds. You are stranded after a plane crash on a desert island and have to fight for your survival there. But the girls didn't end up on this island by chance … The first season will be available exclusively on Prime Video from December 11th.

The fifth season of the sci-fi series "The Expanse" will be available on December 16. The first season of "El Cid" will be released on December 18th. It is about Rodrigo Díaz, also known as "Ruy", the man behind a Spanish legend who goes from little boy to war hero and from squire to king. In doing so, Rodrigo tries to find his place in the complex Spanish monarchy that tries to control him.

With "Two Weeks to Live", "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams (23) is back in the world of series. The British series relies on black humor. Kim Noakes (Maisie Williams) saw her father murdered when she was a little girl. After his death, she lived with her mother (Sian Cliford) hidden in the wilderness and vowed to one day avenge the murder. As soon as she grows up, she wants to put her plan into practice – will she be able to do it that easily? On December 4th and 11th, three episodes each can be seen from 8:15 p.m. on Sky Atlantic, either in German or in the original.

At Disney +, the last episodes of the second season of "The Mandalorian" are due in December. The season finale will be released on December 18th. Will the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda find the Jedi?

An early Christmas present to all fans: A double episode of the fourth season "jerks." can be seen this year exclusively at Joyn Plus +. Christian Ulmen (45) and Fahri Yardim (40) rush from one disaster to the next from December 23rd. The new double episode starts where the last season ended: What happened after the partner swap between the four friends?

"Selena: The Series" is dedicated to the famous singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez (1971-1995), the queen of Tex-Mex. The series shows its beginnings with appearances in small clubs up to the most successful singer with Latin American roots of all time. The main role is played by Christian Serratos (30), known from "The Walking Dead" and as Angela Weber from the "Twilight" saga. Selena: The Show will be available on Netflix December 4th.

"Your last solo" will immerse yourself in the world of an elite dance academy from December 14th. The Archer School is an oasis for dancers of various origins from all parts of the country. What they all have in common is their talent and passion for dancing, and that binds them together. But none of them have a plan B if it doesn't work out. After an attack on the bearer of hope, her successor expects a world of lies, betrayal and competition.

"Bridgerton" tells the story of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the influential Bridgerton family, who makes her debut on the hotly contested marriage market in Regency-era London from December 25th. The year ends with the finale of the series "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina". From December 31, fans on Netflix will find out how it ends with Kiernan Shipka (21) as Sabrina, Ross Lynch (24) as Harvey, Miranda Otto (52) as Zelda and Lucy Davis (47) as Hilda. It's supposed to be "one last scary adventure".
