Starting today, “Prey” at Disney+ is about who is the hunter and who is the eponymous prey: This time, it’s not a muscle-bound military commando that meets the futuristic alien trappers (“Predators”), but a hunter from the Comanche, a Native American people .
The cat-and-mouse game between the two hunters with extremely unequal technical equipment also takes place in the 17th century – long before the storylines in the numerous previous films from the “Predator” universe.
Will “Prey” bring a breath of fresh air to the “Predator” franchise?
Since the first “Predator” film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987, there have been numerous sequels and reboots – but none of them featured the Austrian ex-bodybuilder and later governor of California. Despite well-known successors such as Danny Glover and Adriend Brody and several screen duels with the famous Giger “Alien” from Ridley Scott’s film, the “Predator” franchise is mainly to be located in the area of noble trash.
