A year ago the "Megxit" shook the British royal family. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan apparently do not regret him to this day.

A year ago the "Megxit" shook Great Britain. As the US magazine "People" now reports, Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39, "Suits") do not regret their withdrawal from their royal duties and their move to the USA to this day.

According to an insider, Harry and Meghan's decision showed a lot of courage. Together they would have changed the British royal family – and the monarchy – forever. The 36-year-old brother of Prince William (38), like Princess Margaret (1930-2002), Queen Elizabeth II (94) sister, previously felt superfluous. With the "Megxit" he "finally found a solution" and "assumed his own identity", explains the British historian Robert Lacey (77) to "People".

"Harry finally did what he'd wanted to do for years"

The source goes on to say that the Sussexes have always dreamed of being "financially independent". This dream finally came true last year. "Harry finally did what he'd wanted to do for years," the magazine quoted the insider as saying. "Having Meghan and (19 month old) Archie with you was all he could have asked for."

However, the positive excitement that began 2020 for Meghan and Harry quickly passed in view of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The global crisis meant that the couple could not split their time between Great Britain and their new home USA as planned. In addition, the establishment of their Archewell Foundation was delayed considerably. The royal emigrants do not regret anything, on the contrary: "They love to be able to focus on the projects and concerns that are important to them."
