Problems updating iOS? Here’s what you need to check

Of course, update issues on iOS are rare. But rarely a day goes by that I don’t hear about iPhone users having iOS update issues. Sometimes a reboot fixes the issues, and sometimes the problem is a bit more elusive.

If you’re having trouble updating your iPhone, don’t worry! Here are some tips and tricks to help you fix this problem and update your iPhone.

First, there are some optional things I try to do before any updates:

  • update all apps;
  • restart the iPhone.

Then there are some mandatory criteria:

  • have at least 6 GB of free storage space;
  • have a battery that is at least 50% charged (I like to keep the iPhone plugged in to avoid power issues);
  • be connected to a Wi-Fi network (an iPhone 12 or 13 can also use 5G for the update);
  • not be in energy saving mode;
  • not be connected to a VPN;
  • not be in airplane mode;
  • not be on a beta version.

It still does not work ?

  • try another Wi-Fi connection;
  • check the date and time on your iPhone.

We hope this will get you up and running with the latest version of iOS.
