PS5: The PlayStation Plus Collection will soon no longer be offered

In order to assure the first buyers of its PS5 that they would have enough games when the machine was launched to be able to enjoy it, sony implemented the initiative Playstation Plus Collection, which consisted in offering a little less than twenty games from the PS4 catalog to its PlayStation Plus subscribers. A rather nice entry catalog which however often duplicated the PlayStation Plus games offered each month, especially with the arrival of tiers PlayStation Plus Extra which provides access to many of these games. That is why Sony will remove the PlayStation Plus Collection in a few months.

Gifts are over

You don’t have much time left to claim these games since as of May 9, the PlayStation Plus Collection will no longer be offered to subscribers with a PS5. This was confirmed today via PlayStation Blog.

Which means you won’t be able to get your hands on games like god of war, Days Gone, Final Fantasy XV or Monster Hunter World through this service. If you’ve already added these games to your library, you’ll be able to redownload them if you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription (any tier). But if you buy a PS5 with a subscription after that date, you can skip this welcome gift.

A decision no doubt motivated by the desire to have consumers join PlayStation Plus Extra, a service that has these games. But it’s still a shame for future purchasers of the PS5, who wanted to confine themselves to PlayStation Plus Essentials.
