Queen Elizabeth II .: The monarch shows herself to the public again

At the age of 94, she still got into the saddle: Queen Elizabeth II rode out at the weekend in the park of Windsor Castle with her 14-year-old fur pony – that's the name of the robust pony breed – named Balmoral Fern. The palace subsequently published two pictures riding in the sunshine. For her outing, the Queen wore beige trousers, a dark green tweed jacket, brown leather boots and a colorful headscarf in pink. Riding is said to be one of the Queen's favorite pastimes during the lockdown.

The monarch made her last public appearance on March 9 at Westminster Abbey. Since March 19, she has been in isolation with her husband Prince Philip (98) in Windsor indefinitely. Both shortly before Easter and on May 8, in memory of the end of the Second World War 75 years ago, the head of the British royal family made a speech and addressed his words to the population on video.

The Queen usually returns to Buckingham Palace from Windsor in May. However, this was excluded in order not to endanger the security of the monarch during the Corona crisis, palace employees confirmed to the "Times" at the beginning of May. The forced break from the Corona crisis will probably be the longest phase without public appointments in the Queen's 68-year reign.
