Quickly under control – forest fire in Strobl after lightning strike

A forest fire broke out in Weißenbach near Strobl (Salzburg) on ​​Wednesday afternoon. A Red Cross employee saw the plumes of smoke from the rescue station and alerted the emergency services. The firefighting was carried out by the police helicopter because of the rough terrain.

The Strobl and Koppl fire brigades and the police helicopter quickly brought the forest fire, which was limited to a small area, under control. The fire was probably triggered by lightning. A total of 50 workers were deployed.
