Daniel G. (54) from Aargau is browsing the classifieds platform Tutti.ch on Wednesday evening. The 54-year-old has been using the portal for many years. “I looked around in the ‘Free up to 10 francs’ section,” he said to Blick on Thursday. Then suddenly he comes across a shocking advertisement.
Under the picture of a dark-skinned man it is written: «N **** to give away. Free.” But that’s not all. Below you can read: “The N **** is practical, he likes it best in the gas chamber.” The scandal advertisement appears under the category “Devices and Utensils”.
“I got really excited”
Daniel G. is shocked. “I couldn’t believe it and got really upset.” The Aargauer takes a screenshot. Then he reports the racist advertisement to Tutti.ch.
He would still have no words, says the 54-year-old. «This is an absolute disaster. I am amazed that it is possible for such an advertisement to be published. There should be an automatic filter. “
On Thursday, Tutti.ch said in response to a Blick inquiry that it was currently investigating why this ad was not automatically intercepted. Tutti spokeswoman Patrizia Negri: “We check our platform automatically and manually every day for offensive advertisements and act accordingly after reports from users.”
The ad was on the portal for eight hours
The Tutti advertisement review team is supported by a computer-aided control system. “If advertisements violate our rules or, as in this case, contain illegal content, we can use this procedure to remove advertisements before they are published.”
Even so, the racist ad ended up on the site. Negri says, however, that “only in exceptional cases” would such advertisements “slip” through the systems. In such cases, they would “be removed immediately within a few hours.”
Negri reconstructs the specific case of the “N **** zu schenkken” advertisement: “The advertisement was placed yesterday evening at 11 p.m. Our ad review team removed the ad this morning at 7:03 a.m. due to the clearly racist content and immediately excluded the user concerned from the platform. ”
“Will file a complaint”
The person who put the racist ad on was not known to Tutti until now. Negri: “In this specific individual case, we will file charges against the person.”
The spokeswoman emphasizes in general: «Of course we do not tolerate any racist, offensive or generally discriminatory content on Tutti.ch. Our terms and conditions speak out clearly and unequivocally against it. “
