Yulia Navalnaya accuses the Kremlin of murdering her husband in a video. His reaction leaves the widow of the opposition activist Alexei Navalny cold. Then, out of nowhere, her account is briefly blocked on X, where her video is seen millions of times.
Online service X has this Widow’s account Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, who died in custody, was temporarily blocked. On Yulia Navalnaya’s account, which was set up just the day before, the note appeared: “Account blocked. X blocks accounts that violate our rules.” No further details were initially given about the reasons. The account was accessible again in the early afternoon.
The widow had previously appeared unimpressed by the Kremlin’s reaction to her video message and continued to demand the return of her husband’s body. “I don’t care what the killer’s spokesman says about my words,” she wrote on she demanded.
On Monday, Navalnaya blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for her husband’s death in a video that was viewed millions of times and said she would continue Navalny’s work. “They cowardly and meanly hide his body, refuse to give it to his mother and lie pathetically while waiting for the traces of another Novichok from Putin to disappear,” Navalnaya said, referring to her husband’s poisoning with the nerve agent Novichok in 2020, for which Navalny blamed the Kremlin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov then described her words as “foul and absolutely unfounded accusations against the Russian head of state.” He denied the allegations and said they were outrageous accusations against the Russian head of state.
Russian authorities stonewall
Navalny’s death has deprived the Russian opposition movement of its best-known and most inspiring figurehead – less than a month before the Russian presidential election. Russian authorities have said the cause of death remains unknown. The death investigation process will be expanded. The results of the investigation are likely to be met with skepticism abroad. The police are already looking for Oleg Navalny. It is said he is already on a wanted list in connection with another matter.
