Recall: Salmonella danger at the discounter | BRIGITTE.de

Discounters are currently pointing out an important recall: Products could be contaminated with Salmonella. These represent a health hazard.

Attention, a call back was announced: The discounter chain Netto is currently warning of almonds from the supplier August Töpfer & Co .. It cannot be excluded that the kernels are contaminated with Salmonella.

Recall due to the danger of salmonella

Specifically, it is the following product:

  • "Clarky's Almonds all natural"
  • In the 200 gram pack
  • Supplier: August Töpfer & Co. (GmbH & Co.) KG
  • Sold by: Netto Marken-Discount
  • Lot number: L 41766
  • Best before date: 05.10.2020

The almonds were sold in net branches in parts of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. The discounter is said to have taken the products out of the market immediately after the recall was announced. However, it may be that customers have already bought the almonds and have them at home. They are called upon to return the product to the appropriate branch. There you will be reimbursed the purchase price even without presenting a receipt. Other batches, best before dates or products of the manufacturer are expressly not to be affected.

"Consumption could lead to health problems," warns Netto on the website. Salmonella are rod-shaped enterobacteria that can cause febrile diarrhea. In healthy people, this should be over within a few days – however, there is a risk especially for immunocompromised people, seniors, pregnant women and infants. In severe cases, salmonella can lead to circulatory collapse if it spreads through the body.

If the almonds are consumed and symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, feeling sick, fever or vomiting are seen, a doctor should be consulted. For further questions and uncertainties, Netto has published a hotline for customers: 0800 200 0015.
