Fans of “Red Roses” and “Sturm der Liebe” have to prepare for a long time without their favorite series in the summer. There is a good reason for this.

The ARD telenovelas “Storm of Love” and “Rote Rosen” will say goodbye to a long summer break in May and June 2024. As Das Erste announced in a press release, there will be a big sports program for this.

Sports program instead of “Red Roses” and “Storm of Love”

Accordingly, “Rote Rosen” (daily from Monday to Friday at 2:10 p.m.) will say goodbye for nine weeks from June 17th. New episodes will continue on August 19th. “Sturm der Liebe” (daily from Monday to Friday at 3:10 p.m.) will go into an even longer summer break from May 21st. The new episodes about the Fürstenhof are also scheduled to start on August 19th.

The reason for this is good: there are several big sporting events coming up in the summer. The most prominent of these is certainly the European Football Championship, which is being held in Germany. ARD, ZDF, RTL and Magenta TV have secured the broadcasting rights for the 2024 European Championship.

But many other sports fans also get their money’s worth in summer. Among other things, cycling fans can from June 29th to July 21st Watch the Tour de France (live from 2:10 p.m.) on ARD. The Tour de France Femmes follows from August 12th to 18th. Das Erste will also show the Summer Olympics, which will take place in Paris from July 26th to August 11th.

New ARD afternoon with “Leben.Live!”

A new format in the afternoon program will also start from May 21st. Monday to Friday, ARD shows “Leben.Live! – My ARD Afternoon” from 3:10 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The live broadcast will initially run until June 14th and will be presented by presenter Johannes Zenglein, 37, known from “ARD-Buffet” and the “Tigerenten Club”. This wants to offer viewers “a good hour to feel good and lean back.” The audience can expect “entertaining stories, useful and personal information as well as daily live impressions from various regions of Germany”. Celebrity guests and experts on the topics of lifestyle, living and enjoyment will complete the content of the show.
