Wine lovers have probably been waiting for this news for years: Canadian researchers from the University of Alberta were able to come up with a study demonstrate, that a glass of red wine can replace sport from a scientific point of view. And this news should not only inspire everyone who doesn’t want to do without their glass of red wine in the evening. People who cannot move as much due to health restrictions can also benefit from the test result.

Fitness helper resveratrol

Resveratrol compounds are responsible for the fitness boost. This substance has various positive effects on our body:

  • Activates the protective mechanism in the cells
  • Strengthens and improves physical condition, heart function and muscle strength – in a similar way as exercise

The researchers conclude that that a daily glass of red wine could be a good substitute for an hour’s workout.

Lose weight with resveratrol

In fact, the study is not the only one that proves the positive effects of resveratrol on our body: scientists from Washington State University in the USA were able to study show that the compound can even help with weight loss. Accordingly, the substance converts existing fatty tissue so that it can be broken down more easily. In addition, a glass of red wine right before bed should even protect us from cravings. The delicious red reduces the desire for chocolate, chips and the like by up to 70 percent.



Diet Mistakes

We could hardly wish for a better weight loss helper! But: Of course, the daily glass of red wine shouldn’t be an excuse to put your feet up and never move again. A regular workout (preferably at least three times a week for 30 minutes each) and a balanced diet not only keep us physically and mentally fit for a long time, but also help us to achieve our desired weight in a healthy way.
