Reduced prices, free visits … The Navigo pass will now give entitlement to cultural offers

From a ticket to a gateway to culture. As of Monday, January 10, millions of Navigo pass users will benefit from discounts, free tours and many other benefits in more than 300 museums, cinemas and theaters.

Four million Navigo pass subscribers will be affected by the implementation of this system, which will however not take into account the Navigo Day, Easy and Discovery packages.

In fact, the user’s valid transport ticket will be scanned in the partner establishments in order to entitle him to multiple advantages. In addition to the reduced prices, the pass will give access to free entries, discounts on catering, invitations to events or even welcome gifts according to the offers offered by partner brands.

For this operation, the Île-de-France region will not finance the project, which is based on voluntary work. Nevertheless, more than 300 brands have signed this partnership with the Regional Tourism Committee (CRT), the Region and Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) in order to attract a new audience.

“Relaunching culture and tourism”

“Île-de-France Mobilités manages one of the densest transport networks on the planet. Our Region is the most touristic in the world, with a very important cultural offer. Enriching the Navigo pass with new services is a way of combining the useful with the pleasant, a smart solution to relaunch culture and tourism plagued by the health crisis ”, analyzed Stéphane Beaudet, one of the administrators of ‘Île-de-France Mobilités in charge of issuing the Navigo pass, in the columns of the JDD.

“The Navigo pass is an excellent vehicle for making cultural practice accessible to as many people as possible, all generations combined. This is particularly important at this time, in the face of the drop in attendance linked to Covid, ”added Florence Portelli, vice-president of the regional council in charge of culture, in the weekly newspaper.

A map to locate partner establishments

To find out about all the partner establishments and the offers on offer, the IDFM site will publish this Monday a dynamic map of the region, divided into five categories with 147 independent cinemas, 63 museums, 52 theaters, 26 cultural centers and 12 festivals.

Among the major museums in the Parisian crown, only the Louvre will not integrate this device. While the offer is also extended to theaters and festivals, it will be a little less so for cinemas since Pathé, Gaumont and MK2 have refused to join this process.

French actor Pierre Niney shared his optimism on this subject on Twitter this Sunday, welcoming the implementation of this offer in French cinemas on Monday.

This project will, however, revive the debate around the increase in the prices of the Navigo pass due to the significant financial losses of IDFM caused by the pandemic.
