If there were to be only one left, it would be the Smeg SMF02, which won in our duel, not without the Bosch MUM5 trying to challenge it on multiple occasions. Indeed, the Bosch does not deserve and even does better than its opponent on many points.

During this duel, two distinct visions clash. The Italian Smeg seeks to convince pastry chefs with a beautiful retro style typical of the brand. For its part, the German wants to be more modern and offers a more compact design. In addition, the MUM5 is intended to be upgradeable and is thus compatible with many accessory packs and offers a plethora of possibilities, where the SMF02 from Smeg is more sober. Bosch drives the point home by allowing himself the extravagance of integrating a timer and a scale into his robot pastry chef.

On the maintenance side, the Bosch pastry robot also wins the match by a short margin, in particular thanks to its practical cable storage in the device, or the fact that its whisk is dishwasher-safe.

If the Bosch MUM5XW20 is a surprise, it is in terms of noise. While the Smeg SMF02 was at the top of the category in our comparison, it was upstaged by… the Bosch MUM5! Quieter, it also won this round.

It is thus truly in terms of performance that the Smeg takes the upper hand over its rival of the day. Faster for whisking egg whites and better for making a sponge cake, it takes advantage of its heavier weight to stay firmly in place when kneading bread dough.

If the Italian won this duel, it was thanks to his performance. However, the Bosch does not demerit and delivers very similar benefits, while enjoying better scalability, offering more features while being quieter. The question is whether you prefer the vintage style of the Italian or the modern curves of the German.
