Rogue Trymbi: “Fnatic and Team Vitality are not unbeatable!”

Snape changed a lot during the offseason and the Ninjas lost two important elements: Hans-Sama and Inspired. But as the saying goes, the absent are always wrong. Even though fans haven’t fully digested these departures to the NA LCS, the players who have remained have moved on by starting 2022 off to a perfect start. Rogue may have benefited from a lenient schedule, but the team was serious to win its first two games. Next step, Astralis to finish the first week in 3-0.

We had the chance to interview Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus after his team’s victory over Misfits Gaming. Despite the successes, the young Polish support keeps his head on his shoulders. His goal is clear: to show that Rogue should not be underestimated and that this next generation roster can bring down vitality and fnatic, the favorites displayed.

Hi Trymbi and thank you for giving us your time! The last time we spoke was during Worlds 2021. How have you been since then?

Trymbi: It’s okay, it’s okay, not much really happened. I am starting my second year in the LEC and I am happy with my situation.

You started the year with two big wins. Are you happy with the results and how do you rate your individual performance?

I don’t know if we can talk about big wins because I think that given our standing, we are supposed to beat these teams. And then it was still a bit messy and there are still a lot of things to improve on our side and we have a little troll from time to time. But in any case, it’s the start of the season and I expected worse. Malrang and Comp are playing well and I remain satisfied with our overall level.

It’s true that Rogue made two changes during the offseason. How have Malrang and Comp fit into the roster so far?

I think they’re two pretty quiet guys, who are a bit different from Inspired and Hans Sama. Last year, these two players were very big factors in the collective and we have to adapt. Malrang isn’t able to handle all of the shotcalling due to the language barrier, but he does very well. Comp is not as experienced as Hans, but he still has a good level. But it is above all the three players who remained, of which I am one, to step up. We have to help each other and grow as a team. The current atmosphere is good and we all want to show that we can be a great team despite the departures.

Did you know Comp well before playing with him? Did you have a say in his recruitment?

The leaders obviously asked for my recommendations. Originally, I wasn’t completely sure about Comp, because of his complicated situation at Team Vitality… The team wasn’t working and even though he wasn’t the main reason for this failure, he finished on the bench. Afterwards I had never played with him before so the choice was not easy. But I think it was the choice to make. We underestimate Comp and even if it’s only been 2 games, we can see that he knows how to play aggressive like Hans. He can become a very good ADC and I like the way he plays. Even though a lot of people think we’re a rotten team, I hope we can achieve something with Rogue this year. We are able to compete with the majority of the LEC teams!

As you said before, players who were already at Rogue last year and who stayed have to step-up. Now that you’re not a rookie anymore, do you also feel more pressure?

I learned a lot last year in contact with other players. I can use everything I’ve learned so far to help the team and my teammates, but I’m still learning. Last year was quite successful, but I’m still far from mastering everything. I also want to say that we made a change in the technical staff and that helps. Everything seems a bit new this year and that’s good news. It helps to avoid burn-out, I think it’s complicated to play with the same roster over and over again. In this new environment, I look forward to seeing my personal development. I hope that with Comp we can become one of the best botlanes in Europe.

For the community, Team Vitality and Fnatic are the two superteams of the year. What do you think, you who scrim against these teams and who will face them in competition? Is there a gap between them and the rest?

I think these two teams have very experienced players who are individually crazy. It would be silly to say that they are not the strongest on paper, even if they have shown some weaknesses so far. But we are still at the beginning of the season and I think that these teams, like everyone else, do not pay much attention to the first results of the segment. Everyone is trying things and the important thing is to be strong for the playoffs and I’m sure that these two teams will be able to qualify for the finals… But in any case, Vitality and Fnatic won’t are not unbeatable. It’s far from easy, but we can knock them down. Beating them would be really satisfying and we’ll see if Rogue can compete. I don’t know exactly when in the season we will face them but it will be very interesting. I have always respected players like Perkz, Alphari, Humanoid and Hyllisang who are high caliber. But even if some think that this year will come down to a battle between Fnatic and Vitality, I think they are wrong. Lots of things can happen and last year everyone thought G2 was going to crush everything and in the end it didn’t work out. I don’t wish bad luck on others, but I still really want to show that I can compete with the favorites.

After just one week of competition in the League of Legends European league, there has already been some breakage. One thinks in particular of Team Vitality which failed to glean the slightest victory. On the other hand, the smile came out at Fnatic and Rogue, two teams still undefeated.
