Sale / Good deal – The Crucial MX500 250 GB SSD at €34.99 (-27%)

The Crucial MX500 SSD series is spread over capacities between 250 GB and 2 TB. If the large capacities have seduced us at all levels, we wanted to see if the smallest model was up to its elders.

Powerful, well-equipped and backed by a 5-year warranty, the 250 GB MX500 does not have to be ashamed of the competition, quite the contrary. For an SSD of this capacity, it is even a benchmark, even though the 500 GB and larger versions do even better.

Strong points

  • Sequential debits.
  • Random debits.
  • Constancy of flows.
  • Different technical refinements on data protection.
  • 5 year warranty.

Weak points

  • SLC cache less successful than on higher capacities.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

The 240GB PNY CS900 SSD is a great surprise. It’s not the best SSD on the market, but it still offers a consistent and satisfactory performance. With its floor price, it represents an interesting purchase for most uses.
