Sami Slimani: YouTuber wants to play "bigger roles in films"

With around 1.6 million subscribers, Sami Slimani is one of the most successful YouTubers in Germany. The Stuttgart-based web video producer released his first video eleven years ago. He never pursued the dream of being a public figure, as he tells in a birthday interview with the news agency spot on news. Rather, the freshly baked 30-year-old always wanted to share topics "that were important to me and that interested me".

"My first video at the time was about skin care – nothing I thought would reach millions of people and build a standing in an industry that did not exist at the time," continues the YouTuber. In the meantime, his spectrum has become more diverse. "My content has matured and my interests have increased." However, the 30-year-old never considered his YouTube channel as a pure entertainment channel. "Some videos are too serious in terms of subject matter when it comes to personal development, everyday productivity and business."

His new life in Dubai

Slimani emigrated to Dubai in the summer of 2019. There he will also spend his 30th birthday, "with the most important people for me – my parents. […] You are visiting for the first time after my emigration." Of course, the camera will always be there on this special day, so that his fans can look forward to exclusive insights.

Does the popularity become too much for him sometimes? "I think that is part of the success," said Slimani in an interview. He was always grateful to meet fans and hear "what positive effects my videos and my own career have had on their lives". Even in Dubai, he is now repeatedly addressed by "people from my community".

Successful in front of and behind the camera

Slimani was already a YouTube star, influencer and also as a voice actor. The camera is his friend: "I love television and therefore like to appear in some selected TV shows," says Slimani. For the future, he could therefore "very well imagine playing bigger roles in films and of course appearing more on television".

Slimani is also making a career with his marketing agency "Another Level", founded in 2018. His goal as a businessman: "build a previously non-existent bridge between social media, brands and people".
