At Sangria you automatically think of drinking buckets on Mallorca or cheap wine from the Tetra Pak? Then you've probably never made the mixed wine yourself! We have a delicious sangria recipe for you.

Ingredients for sangria

  • 2 bottles of red wine
  • 2 organic oranges
  • 2 peaches
  • 1 apple
  • 30 g of sugar
  • 50 ml lemon juice
  • 50 ml brandy
  • Ice cubes
  • 200 ml mineral water

Make sangria yourself – how it works

  1. Wash, peel and cut the oranges into bite-size pieces. Also rinse the peaches and the apple, remove the seeds and cut them into small pieces.
  2. Place the fruit in a large carafe and top up with the red wine, sugar, lemon juice and brandy. Mix well to dissolve the sugar.
  3. It is best to leave the sangria in the fridge for a few hours.
  4. Finally, put the ice cubes in glasses, scoop the sangria out of the jug with a ladle and serve with a little mineral water.

Which wine is suitable for sangria?

If you want to prepare sangria in proper style, you should of course choose Spanish red wine. One is best suited dry or semi-dry variety with a moderate alcohol content – around 12 percent by volume are ideal.

Suitable red wines are, for example, Tempranillo or Portada Tinto. You should also make sure that the wine was not stored in oak barrels for long, because the woody note does not go well with the fruity sangria.
