Aarau was able to win everything before the final matchday, but also lose everything. And symptomatic of the crazy 2021/22 Challenge League season, the previous leader actually gave up all his trump cards at the last minute.
Shkelzen Gashi’s 1:2 goal via penalty in the 83rd minute came too late for the Aarauer. Vaduz, for which it was no longer about sport, became a party crasher in Brügglifeld and paved the way for Winterthur to rise directly.
FCW as a big profiteer
The people of Zurich, who had risen on the Barrage-Platz in the last matchday, did not show any weakness at the bottom of the table Kriens and won 5-0. Striker Roman Buess scored twice. Schaffhausen denies the barrage (first and second leg) against the Super League penultimate. Other possible opponents are Lucerne, Sion and – albeit very unlikely – the Grasshoppers. The last matchday in the Super League rises on Sunday afternoon.
