Do you need some new pot holders or do you want to give some away? We'll show you how you can easily sew pot holders.

They are practical and are there for you in hot times: pot holders. When your old ones are past their prime, it's time for new ones! And sewing pot holders is very easy. You can do it yourself Fabric in your favorite color or buy in your favorite pattern or you use it Scraps of fabric. Whether you make both sides in one color or pattern or one side plain and the other with a pattern is entirely up to your taste. In a short sewing instruction we will show you how easy and quick it is. And the whole thing works without a pattern!

Sewing pot holders: materials

For these simple pot holders you will need:

  • Cotton fabric
  • Optional: a second cotton fabric in a different color for the loop
  • Sewing thread
  • Flame-retardant volume fleece
  • Pins or clips
  • Ruler or tape measure

Sewing pot holders without bias tape: step by step

  1. Cut two squares (e.g. 8×20 cm) out of your fabric.
  2. Cut two squares the same size as the cotton fabric from the fleece.
  3. You also need a strip of fabric (e.g. 15×4 cm) for the loop, which you can cut from the same or a different colored fabric.
  4. Fold the strip in the middle, pin the long side and top it off with a straight stitch.
  5. Now put the batting on top of one another and over it one of the cotton fabric squares with the left side down.
  6. Then place the second cotton fabric square on it with the right side down – both cotton pieces are now right sides together.
  7. Now you place your loop, e.g. B. in the middle or in a corner so that you can enclose them while sewing. Lay it down so that a loop protrudes outward.
  8. When you've checked that all the layers of fabric are correctly stacked, peg them all around.
  9. If necessary, mark a small spot (approx. 4 cm) that you leave open for turning.
  10. So now step almost all around, leave out the turning opening!
  11. Turn the pot holder over through this opening and then close it with the mattress stitch or stitch all around again.

And the best: These pot holders can be varied as desired, e.g. B. sew in other shapes, e.g. circular or heart-shaped. Instead of cotton, you can too Denim use. Here we show you how you can sew cute fox pot holders!
