She-Hulk Brings Back One of the MCU’s First Super Villains

The She-Hulk trailer shows several familiar faces from the MCU. Kind faces, but also one of the very first super villains.

The She-Hulk series is coming soon. In order to raise the sauce, Marvel released a trailer on May 17 featuring the green heroine, played here by Tatiana Maslany. The series, whose full title is She-Hulk: Attorney at Lawshould have nine episodes and bring back certain figures from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), starting with Hulk, the cousin of She-Hulk.

she hulk will succeed Moon Knight in August, which is now complete. The strange television series dedicated to this enigmatic superhero whose powers depend on the night and the Moon was broadcast in full on Disney+. More series are coming. Before She-Hulk, Marvel Studios has even planned to place another series, starting in June: Ms Marvel in June.

Warning, spoilers may follow.

Like Bruce Banner, Jennifer Walters has the ability to alter her physical appearance, athletic abilities, and toughness by mutating into a highly fearsome colossus in battle. This faculty, Jennifer inherited it from a blood transfusion from her cousin. It is therefore with this invading particularity that she must lead her career as a lawyer and her private life.

But Bruce and Jennifer are not the only protagonists of the series to have to manage this physiological singularity. There is a third. Her name ? Emil Blonsky. Maybe he’s telling you something. He turns out to be one of the first antagonists in the MCU. We find it in 2008 in the film The Incredible Hulk. You probably know him best as Abomination.

Disney+ is available in France:

The film in question is one of the first of the MCU. It came out just a few months after Iron Man, and at the time, Bruce Banner was played by Edward Norton. This will be his only foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he will be replaced later by Mark Ruffalo. But to play Emil Blonsky, it is still and always Tim Roth at the controls.

A quick reminder: Emil Blonsky wasn’t always a villain. He served as an elite soldier and was tasked by the military to apprehend the Hulk. His performance was enhanced with an experimental serum to make him a super soldier. Alas, things turned out badly… and the person concerned ended up becoming a filthy and extremely strong humanoid creature.

Since then, we hadn’t really had any news from the Abomination. Surely, fans will be sure to point out the monster’s cameo in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, where he fights Wong in an octagon, somewhere in the underworld of China. But difficult to describe this sequence as the return of the villain: it was more like a wink.

The fate of the Abomination had previously been evoked in a short film, called The Advisor. In an exchange between Phil Coulson and Jasper Sitwell, we learn that the Abomination is supposed to be under control, in a cage never to come out – which is not entirely accurate given what we see in Shang-Chi.

The role that the Abomination will play in she hulk remains to be clarified, but we can suppose that as a lawyer, Jennifer Walters could have to defend Emil Blonsky, represent the interests of his victims or work on a legal framework concerning superheroes (or supervillains). Before, perhaps, coming to blows directly with him?
