At the CES in Las Vegas, Jackery surprises with a camping innovation. A roof tent equipped with extendable solar cells kills two birds with one stone.
Camping has been experiencing a boom since 2020 at the latest. The topic of roof tents has also emancipated itself from the niche and has entered the mainstream. A feat – roof tents ultimately transform any car into a flexible mini-motorhome.
Established manufacturers interpret the roof tent theme in a variety of ways; even multi-story tent palaces can now be found on campsites. However, we are not yet aware of a roof tent like the one that Jackery is currently presenting at CES 2024.
In contrast to well-known market solutions, the “Solar Generator Rooftop Tent” does not have any glued-on solar modules. Instead,Jackery relies on extendable modules, which significantly increase the area and thus the yield. The panels, which can be extended on both sides, should generate an output of up to 1,000 watts.
The electricity generated is then stored in a suitable power station with a capacity of 1,264 watt hours. The manufacturer does not provide any further details about the actual roof tent for the time being.
An announcement only mentions an off-road tent with “insulating properties and a memory foam mattress”. It is quite possible that Jackery is working with a partner company here. When and at what price the solar roof tent will go on sale has also not yet been announced. You can read more news from Las Vegas from CES here.
