A world first. A sound radar will be inaugurated on Tuesday, January 4, in the Chevreuse valley, in Saint-Lambert (Yvelines), on the departmental road 46. For the occasion, the Minister of Ecological Transition, Barbara Pompili, will be there, reports Le Parisien. In the process, seven other sound radars will be installed in Paris, Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), Bron (Rhône), Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine), Villeneuve-le-Roi (Val -de-Marne) and Saint-Forget (Yvelines).
The level of vehicle noise emissions will be recorded by sensors installed in this new device. “It is the fruit of a long collective effort that began more than two years ago. We have already carried out on-track experiments with this sound radar, which is a world first. As of Tuesday, the on-road experiment will start. Then, a process of approval of the radar will take place in the first half of the year before moving to the verbalization in 2022 “, welcomes in the columns of the Paris daily newspaper Noël Barrot, deputy MoDem.

Objective of this sound radar: “To sanction ultra-minority behavior of people who voluntarily traffic their motorbike or their scooter”, assures the elected official, who refutes any “punitive device”. Amount of the fine for offenders: 135 euros. According to a Bruitparif study, relayed by Le Parisien, 87% of Ile-de-France residents would be in favor of a verbalization of motorized two-wheelers that are too noisy.
