A sequence that did not go unnoticed… Saturday February 3, 2024, TF1 broadcast the Star Academy grand final. Around 10 p.m., Julien performed alongside Patrick Fiori, the title Que tu reviens. If the candidate’s performance was praised by his teachers, a detail made the rounds on social networks. Behind him, the dancers read copies of the far-right newspaper Rivarol, known for its anti-Semitic and racist positions. On X (formerly Twitter), teacher and columnist Tristan Mendes was annoyed: “I had to go check because it’s so absurd. And yes, someone at the Star Academy last night had the idea of ​​giving the extras a copy (or even several) of the anti-Semitic and racist rag, Rivarol (convicted several times by the courts)“.

In the comments section, many Internet users expressed their astonishment. “TF1 is going to have to cancel its subscription to Rivarol. Seriously, how can a prop maker dare to do that? Where did he find this copy? Was he hanging around on set? Probably no, that’s intentional. Either the prop designer is an ignoramus, or he’s a propagandist.”, wrote one of them. Others added: “The question now is who had the idea of ​​using it as an accessory?” ; “When we add that the director of the Star Academy is Jewish, this anti-Semitic provocation on screen is even more serious” ; “Outrageous!” ; but also : “This is extremely worrying“.

Endemol apologized

On X, Endemol quickly spoke up. “Star Academy is a great family show that brings together all audiences around the values ​​of entertainment, kindness and cohesion. We regret and strongly condemn that a propaganda newspaper, in total opposition to the values ​​of the Star Academy, appeared in a painting last night during the final.”, we can read. Finally, production clarified: “We are investigating to understand how this was placed during the broadcast. Necessary sanctions will be taken accordingly. We apologize to viewers, artists and students.”.
