Filming won't start until March, but the set for the "Star Wars" spin-off is already being set up. Local residents express their concerns.

It is estimated that the "Star Wars" franchise has grossed more than ten billion dollars to date. Logically, Disney, which acquired the rights to "Star Wars" in 2012 for four billion dollars, is interested in spin-offs and new productions of the lucrative brand. In the English province, where the "Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi" series is to be filmed for Disney +, the residents of Little Marlow in the south of England do not seem to share the enthusiasm.

Villagers little enthusiastic about Disney

In Little Marlow, the production team recently settled in a former quarry and is setting up the film set there. The local residents are anything but enthusiastic about it, according to a report by the British "The Sun". The traffic has already increased, there is also a loud background noise and light pollution. "The Sun" quotes a local resident: "It's a huge production and a hugely lucrative franchise – but obviously not everyone is happy that Disney is moving in here."

"It may create a few jobs, but this is a pretty rural area that has always been quiet and peaceful. The thought of becoming an intergalactic theater of war is terrible," the source said. Several UK media have released drone footage of the quarry, which is being converted into a film set. Filming should start in March. Ewan McGregor (49) will then slip back into the role of the famous Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi. A start date for the series is not yet known.
