Satellite internet service Starlink may well become a business of its own in the future.

The year 2023 was clearly that of Starlink, whether for its involvement in all the major current conflicts, or even through the continuous improvement of its solutions. For example, it will soon be possible to have the company as a telephone operator, with Starlink aiming to become a global supplier at this level. So many successes that could well be achieved in the future far from SpaceX, and completely independently.

Starlink reaches the threshold of profitability

If Elon Musk is the boss of several huge and successful global companies, it is difficult to see in the richest man in the world a greater achievement than Starlink. A service that has grown in recent years, to the point of having finally reached the break-even point, according to an announcement made a few days ago by the billionaire.

Starlink has been extremely active in recent years, since 2019 it has benefited from the launch of around 5,000 satellites around the planet. An industrial success which could soon be a financial success. And justify certain changes in its management.

SpaceX without Starlink?

Indeed, in 2021, Elon Musk indicated that once Starlink benefited from constant cash flow, he could separate from SpaceX. The profitability threshold reached could thus be a fundamental step for Starlink, which, once separated from its matrix company, could, again according to Elon Musk’s plans, be listed on the stock market.

Note that already in 2022, Starlink had seen its revenues increase sixfold, to reach $1.4 billion. Great results which obviously push management to intensify the development of the service. “ Starlink represents […] the majority of all active satellites and will have launched the majority of all satellites cumulatively from Earth by next year » explained Elon Musk in a post on X.com.
