ROME (Reuters) – Production at Stellantis’ plant in Melfi, southern Italy, was halted on Tuesday due to a strike by the automaker’s contractors in charge of logistics operations, the authorities said. unions in a joint statement.

The workers went on strike after Stellantis’ decision to cut a third of the work given to these subcontractors, the unions said.

The Melfi plant, which employs more than 7,000 workers, manufactures the Jeep Compass and Renegade models.
