Stray is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of this summer. Available tomorrow on PlayStation consoles and also free for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribersthe game traces the adventures of a stray cat, in the streets of a futuristic world populated by “humans” with screens as faces.
The so unique concept of the production of BlueTwelve studios seems to seduce because it features a more than adorable and above all very realistic cat. But then, what cats were the developers inspired by to bring Stray’s feline to life?
Not one cat, but three!
These are in fact three adorable felines that inspired the teams at BlueTwelve studios in the creation of a virtual cat larger than life, in its appearance as well as in its movements.
The main one is Murtaugh, who lent his ginger fur to Stray’s protagonist. He is one of the cats of Viv and Koola, two of the co-creators of the game. It was found in the streets of Montpellier, under a car, a few years ago. Murtaugh was then a stray cat, who now lives a very comfortable life with his masters.
As the PlayStation teams say so well in a recent post, “Stray’s main protagonist doesn’t have a name or at least not a name that can be pronounced with human language. That said, the main inspiration behind the creation of this charming video game character does”. It is therefore very likely that future players will therefore call Stray’s cat, Murtaugh.
Oscar is an adorable golden Sphinx and already well accustomed to fame, because he is an actor! The cat in question came almost every day to the studio in order to inspire Miko, in charge of animating the movements of Stray’s protagonist. In effect, faithfully animating the fluid movements of a feline can be very difficultbut Oscar helped a lot.
Just like his furry friends (except Oscar), he ensured the proper development of the game and never ceased to inspire Stray’s creative teams. According to PlayStation, “He was responsible for monitoring the team’s efforts on a daily basis and ensuring that everyone was working on the right subject”. A very important job which did not prevent him from take a nap during his hours at the office.
These three adorable little cats therefore accompanied the creation of Stray, alongside the BlueTwelve teams. As the game releases tomorrow, our furry friends will now get a well-deserved rest!
