Strong criticism of Coach Glasner
Eintracht plunges into severe turbulence
Oliver Glasner takes over Eintracht Frankfurt this summer as a successful coach. But disillusionment quickly follows. As well as at VfL Wolfsburg, the Austrian doesn’t work for the Hessian Bundesliga club. After just ten match days, things get really tight for the coach.
The merciless mechanisms in professional football were only just introduced to Oliver Glasner by his old club. VfL Wolfsburg mercilessly pulled the ripcord, Mark van Bommel had to vacate his chair less than four months after taking office as the first Bundesliga coach this season. And almost every week the risk is currently increasing that Glasner could become the successor to his successor in this regard.
In view of the disastrous record of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, the forest of leaves is seething tremendously – the pressure on the Austrian is growing. “Planned and harmless,” was the headline of the “kicker” after the weak performance in the 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig. “No sustainable development” recognizes the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”. The record of a relegation candidate
Nine points from ten games and only one win of the season – that’s the balance of a relegation candidate. Only thanks to the better goal difference than FC Augsburg, the Hessians are not on the relegation place. Sports director Markus Krösche does not want to know anything about a coaching discussion, at least in public. Glasner was “definitely part of the solution” and not part of the problem, emphasized the 41-year-old.
He is generally “a very patient person,” said Krösche: “It’s always a process. If you get a new coach and he has a slightly different game idea, it also takes time.” But the environment is slowly getting restless, already after the scary first half against Leipzig there was a loud whistle – because the idea of Glasner’s game was once again not recognizable.
“Make too many wrong decisions”
“We still have a lot that we need to improve,” said goalkeeper Kevin Trapp: “We make too many wrong decisions that make life difficult for ourselves. We have to turn that off because it makes us feel insecure and make our opponents stronger . ” The negative vortex gnaws at the players, explained Glasner: “We don’t have lightness and creativity because we don’t have the self-confidence either.”
But the problems lie deeper. Eintracht has the worst duel record in the league and hardly creates any chances. After André Silva’s departure, there is no real clunker in sight, except for Trapp, the supposed leading players are chasing after their form. The team “still has a lot of room for improvement”, Krösche admitted frankly.
But the SBU should exploit this potential as quickly as possible. On Thursday (6.45 p.m. on RTL + and in the live ticker on ntv.de) it goes to Olympiacos Piraeus in the Europa League, in the upcoming basement duel three days later at the bottom of SpVgg Greuther Fürth (7.30 p.m. at DAZN and in the ntv.de live ticker) victory is a must. Otherwise Glasner could become the second dismissed Bundesliga coach after his Wolfsburg successor van Bommel during the international break.
